Parcels, movies and Repairs.

Well after a quiet bank holiday weekend I can now just sit back and enjoy the stack of parcels that will arrive in the post. Mostly bits and bobs and even a White Knight fancy dress costume for an upcoming birthday party, being a bit more spontaneous. And damn does it look good if I do say so myself, looks as though it should have cost way more, although I'm keeping that comment to myself.

I have also been to see the Fast and Furious 6 yesterday oh my, what a film, unlike other franchises let’s say for example oh I font know Paranormal activity which just seems to get worse, Fast and Furious thankfully is the exact opposite. A stellar cast, amazing action, solid plot and a twist ending it really is that good.

I have also been fortunate enough after doing some cleaning to at last find my old Dreamcast console from Sega, and even the cables, a quick dust and it looks as good as new. Looks being the key word in this case, as when powered up the drive will not spin the disc, sigh. So straight to the tool box and have a look inside, something I didn't think I’d be doing when I first bought it I can tell you. All of the components seem in good nick, but how 3 spiders have managed to get inside and spin some webs I have no idea, really it’s incredible, it’s not like I even want internet on it ha ha.

Anyway I finally come to the conclusion that the GD Rom drive has malfunctioned/died, which is not a good thing seeing as the parts for this kind of system are practically extinct. Still I have managed to source another Dreamcast in working order even though it has some yellowing on the case, so the plan is to just replace my GD Rom with the bought one.

The website has picked up a few hiccups which need remedying, such as the contact form pointing to some JavaScript and CSS sheets which need an xml file which is placed on the hosting server in order for direct messaging. I have since decided to implement a basic form which can simply work with a user’s email program, not ideal but at present very appealing.

Aside from that one of my pages footer containers does not seem to be extending itself to the width of the page, even though the parameters have not changed, possibly I suspect something to do with my click boxes, at least all of the pages are linked now.

Site update - Life in Geneal

I guess the saying is right, "If your going to do a job do it right first time", something which I try to stick to, Iv'e finally gotten over the gruelling task of organising my project photos into albums, sorting through them then uploading them correcting them, changing the size and bringing them down from 2.5 mb + to 160kbs each without any really noticeable loss of quality to the images.

So now instead of over 400 mb of images I'm down to around 10mb+ not bad, also the code for the site so that he images each have their own unique gallery page has turned out rather well, now just checking over everything in detail.

Its lucky I have this to do really things aren't exactly;y going brilliantly atm, saying that E3 games conference is just weeks away with the impending new of the Playstation 4 and Xbox -1, i know this has been said a dozen times now but I have to say it as its such a funny pun "It's half time and the results are in, it's Xbox-1 Playstation  4" ha you have got to appreciate that.  I soon hope to write a review on both systems and the events of E3 on my reviews website, however things are at a halt presently until I can reach the editor.

I have to say I'm surprised with the amount of views I have gotten so far, considering I haven't really put this blog out there so to speak, hopefully you will enjoy or learn something from my posts, while I like talking Tech I will try to broaden the blog once my new site is up and running.

This is my first real stab at a blog, website, business site for myself so I'm hoping it goes well, thanks for reading if you got this far.

Site Progress and Misc

Well the new site is certainly taking shape now, if only I wasn't so tired going through each image in separate folders adjusting the colour levels and then uploading them to a handy little on-line tool in order to reduce them from full 1.59mb to a few hundred KiloBytes.

I have also purchased some proper background card in order to take some new shots, I find I will have to re-shoot an I-Pad and I-phone with my compact/Dslr Hybrid   instead of using the built in phone cam, which is good but lets face it 14 Mega Pixels is better than 5 any day.

I now need to concentrate on doing my logo and identity for the site, Cant wait until it all goes live, get this out of the way but I enjoy actually doing something instead of sitting around all day. I feel like going to bed right now to be honest, but its going to be a long night what with playing some Resident Evil 6 co-op with a friend.

Aside form the site I also have to finish up some reviews and compare the latest games consoles before E3 and then mark up some of the noteworthy items shown at the event itself. Although at present the review site seems to have gone a bit dead, i am trying to keep things active and get my thoughts aired.

Code Sync Woes

Well finally I have managed to find the right style of gallery which will be used for my site images, with the images as small thumbnails which when clicked open within the page to a larger image which are closed by clicking on them again. I also need to lay with the background of the gallery Ui at some point to match my site design. I will have separate pages hosting images on al sorts of gadgets and tear-downs on electronic devices such as Smartphones and Ipad's.

However due having a test site set up within Dream-weavers managed sites, not everything is going to plan. Once I had sorted out playing with this new gallery code in my test site and figuring the easiest and best way of integrating it into my new site. To review how to best do this I changed my site from the test one to my main stable one, before continuing I decided to back up the results to USB and as always opened up the webpages to see all was in order and the latest stable version was present. To my dismay shall we say I find that my blog page had literally fallen apart at the seams, however the blog on which I am now writing was still showing halfway down the page still intact, upon closer inspection I find that somehow the blog reference links were all pointing to the blog file within the test Directory, lord only knows how that happened, as it should be isolate and was checked before closing.

Luckily without panicking I opened up another page called blog posts which I probably wont use but has the same layout and code as the blog page minus the integrated blog. I went through both files deleting and re-copying the messed up code reference's and e' Voila the blog page is now fully functioning again, needless to say it has been backed up this time.

So with the blog page now fully working (touch wood) and my new gallery design ready to code into my main site things are progressing nicely.

Testing compatibility with Dreamweaver

Well I think I can safely say that this is my first blog post, hopefully once I have clicked publish the file will refresh on my website even though the files are all local it should pick up this address and display it within the web-page itself.

If you can read this then it seems I am on the right track and will hopefully be updating with more info very shortly.
